Care of Pearls

Maintenance method

Pearls are among the most delicate gemstones.
Calcium carbonate, the main component of pearls, is weak against acid, heat, and water.
Leaving it with sweat or dust may cause it to lose its luster and cause discoloration.
Therefore, proper storage and maintenance methods are required to keep it beautiful for a long time.

It is important to avoid exposing pearls to extreme light, heat or humidity.
Avoid both humid and extremely dry locations. Also avoid storing near chemicals such as insect repellents and cosmetics.
For storage, store it in a case, etc., and store it so that it does not come into contact with other jewelry. Prevents scratches caused by contact with other gemstones.
In addition, even if you do not use the pearls frequently, we recommend that you take them out of the case or storage area and lightly polish the pearls with a soft cloth.

Especially after being used, the surface of the pearl is covered with sweat.
The slight amount of acid contained in sweat accumulates and gradually damages pearls as they are left unattended and used repeatedly.
After receiving the pearls, be sure to polish the pearls with a cloth such as a soft cleaning cloth for eyeglasses, so that the pearls can be maintained optimally.

In addition, if the thread or wire of the necklace becomes loose, or if the beads of earrings, pierced earrings, rings, etc. are likely to fall off, please feel free to contact us.
Daily maintenance is the most important thing for pearls.

[Especially when dirt is a concern]
After wiping the dirty part with a soft cloth that has been tightly wrung out with lukewarm water, be sure to wipe it with a dry, soft cloth.
Be especially careful when cleaning the area where the metal fittings and the pearls are in contact, as it is easy to get dirty.

PS processing to protect pearls from sweat and acid

It is a process to prolong the original brilliance of pearls.
The original shine may change over time, and the color may gradually fade.
Therefore, by applying this process, you can continue to maintain the original shine.
PS processing is a process that changes pearl calcium carbonate to calcium fluoride, not a coating process.

PS processing is a method to strengthen the pearl itself, so it is identified as a genuine pearl even at the identification agency.
Also, the value does not decrease due to this processing.
